Why I Chose the Hummingbird for My Logo

When I began shaping the identity of my consulting practice, I knew I wanted a logo that carried meaning, something alive, vibrant, and reflective of how I work with people and organisations.

That’s why I chose the hummingbird.

Small, dynamic, and full of energy, the hummingbird has always fascinated me. Its ability to hover, to change direction in an instant, and to find sweetness in unexpected places speaks to the way I approach my work: agile, precise, and always seeking depth and impact.

My logo, a gradient of pinks and purples in dynamic movement, captures this perfectly. The pinks represent compassion, connection, and humanity; the purples speak to wisdom, reflection, and transformation. Together, they mirror the balance I strive for in my consulting practice: insight paired with empathy, strategy paired with creativity.

Why the Hummingbird Reflects My Work

Across my four core areas of work, Mentoring and Supervision, Research and Evaluation, Workforce Development, and Co-design & Co-production Methods the hummingbird’s qualities resonate deeply.

🌸 Mentoring and Supervision
Like the hummingbird hovering with intent, my approach to mentoring and supervision is both still and active, creating space for reflection, yet always moving forward. I help practitioners and leaders pause long enough to notice, then act with purpose and clarity.

🔍 Research & Evaluation
The hummingbird reminds me to stay curious. In research and evaluation, I seek the nectar in the data, the insights that nourish meaningful change. My work is evidence-based yet deeply human, ensuring that learning leads to action.

🌱 Workforce Development
Just as hummingbirds adapt to different environments, I support teams and organisations to develop agility, confidence, and resilience. Workforce development isn’t about doing more, it’s about doing better, together.

🤝 Co-design and Co-production
At the heart of my practice is partnership. Co-design and co-production methods are, for me, about shared movement, the dance of collaboration. Like the hummingbird moving between blooms, these approaches value diversity, listening, and co-creation.

A Symbol of My Philosophy

The hummingbird’s lightness is deceptive; it’s one of nature’s most resilient travellers. That balance of delicacy and determination mirrors the way I believe change should happen, gently but powerfully.

Every time I see my logo, I’m reminded that meaningful work can be vibrant, precise, and full of life. My hope is that this spirit comes through in every project I take on and every partnership I form.

In Essence

The hummingbird isn’t just my logo; it’s a symbol of my philosophy:

  • Agility and precision in every piece of work.

  • Curiosity and compassion in every conversation.

  • Energy and elegance in every movement forward.

Just as the hummingbird finds beauty and nourishment in its flight, I aim to bring clarity, creativity, and joy to the work of change.
